Committed to Making a Difference
The Center for Education Equity (CEE) is an amazing non-profit, youth prevention organization, volunteer operated with little funding. Founded in June 2000, after a series of compelling articles in the Greenville News, revealed the huge disparities and gaps affecting low-income students in Greenville County Schools. For over 22 long years, CEE has transformed the lives of over 2,000 disadvantaged students, from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds. CEE began as the “CEE Saturday Success School” at the Phillis Wheatley Center, 2000-2001. After the Phillis Wheatley Center closed, CEE operated at Greenville Technical College, as the “CEE Saturday Success School” from 2001-2007, with outstanding results in academic achievement! CEE grew, adding weekday Academics, Art, and Fitness Programs at Woodfield Park and Happy Hearts Park of the Greenville County Recreation Commission, 2007. Aided by the late Senator Ralph Anderson, the late Lottie Gibson, Greenville County Council; and led by School Trustee and CEE Co-Founder, Leola Robinson, CEE moved to 1191 Pendleton Street in 2007; with Coach Shakir Robinson as Co-Founder/Director.
The Center for Educational Equity (CEE) Greenville was established with a vision to make a positive impact in the lives of young people in the Greenville, SC area. Over the years, we have become the leading Youth Social Services Organization, providing the youth of our community with the educational resources, essential tools, and support they need to reach their full potential.
